In 2023, Anup Sarmah was honored with the Youth Business Award, for his visionary entrepreneurship in transforming Jokapura village in north Assam. Starting with a 10-acre fish pond, Sarmah's initiative expanded into a thriving 210 bigha enterprise, empowering 20 families to meet 20% of the local fish consumption needs. Despite challenges during the Covid pandemic, Sarmah's project thrived, producing significant quantities of live fish. His dedication to community development and self-sufficiency earned him the Best Fish Farmer Award under the 'NE and hill state category,' recognizing his impactful leadership and contribution to rural livelihoods.
